THE GLOBAL LEADERS INSTITUTE IN ITALY 2023

INNOVATION SUMMIT LUNIGIANA
TUSCANY | ITALY 2023
For the GLI’s seventh Innovation Summit in June 2023, arts changemakers from around the world have travelled to Fivizzano, Italy, to work with a dynamic community, region, and country asking profound questions about the future.

Members of The Global Leaders Institute, together with a range of international Faculty and Mentors representing world-class institutions from Harvard University to the Fondazione Fitzcarraldo, are collaborating with local entrepreneurs across the community of Lunigiana and surrounding counties to support local arts organizations, impact-oriented businesses, and diverse NGOs. GLI international participants are also learning from the community of Lunigiana, its rich traditions, and complex challenges and stories — past and present.
Over the Residence week, GLI Cohort Members — Arts Innovation MBA Fellows from around the world — are collaborating with local arts and education entrepreneur counterparts in activities to further the sustainable development of the arts community.
Hosted by The Lunigiana International Music Festival and the Comune Di Fivizzano, The 2023 Innovation Summit of The Global Leaders Institute takes place for the first time in Italy, within the vibrant community of Fivizzano in the Lunigiana Region.
FIVIZZANO COMMUNITY FORUM
As the Innovation Summit unfolds, combined teams of GLI Cohort Members and local participants work to jointly identify and explore a range of impact-focused challenges within the context of the local community. This process leads to the design of a series of novel, arts-based, market-tested concepts for viable solutions to the identified challenges. A Shark Tank-modeled Community Forum on the closing afternoon of June 16 presents project concepts co-created by local project leaders in collaborative design. This experience provides a powerful collective learning experience for all in attendance and an exciting conclusion to the week.
ADAPTIVE LEADERSHIP MODULE
As part of the growth journey in Fivizzano, GLI Cohort Members and selected participants participate in a series of workshops to learn, connect, and apply Harvard University’s Adaptive Leadership framework to improve their collaborative and leading skills. Developed by Harvard University thought leaders Ronald Heifetz and Marty Linsky, Adaptive Leadership is a practical framework created at Harvard Kennedy School of Government for leading change, particularly during times of uncertainty or when there are no easy answers.
